The Medieval EraCastles, Knights, and Kings
|
The Medieval Era, or the Middle Ages, lasted from the 5th to the 15th century. It started after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire and lasted till the renaissance. While some see the middle ages as a time of uncivilized madness, compared to the glory of the Roman Empire which came before it, the middle ages had many important contributions to our world today. New Political, cultural, social, and economic systems developed. Different kingdoms and monarchies formed that shaped the formation of countries in the modern era. During the middle ages Europe began to be recognized as its own cultural region. In medieval life, the Roman Catholic Church became very significant. Architecture took a big leap in the creation of Gothic Cathedrals, and some of the first universities were established in the middle ages.
